ACTIVITIES
Depending on the Antarctic operator and the itinerary, there are various activities that you could participate in. Some of them are included in the price of the voyage; some others are extra.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
If you love cross-country skiing, why not experience it on pristine Antarctic snow? All you’ll hear will be the sound of your skis gliding through the fresh snow as penguins provide the soundtrack to your journey.
Cross-country skiing is available on select Antarctic voyages at the beginning of the season.
KAYAKING
Kayaking in Antarctica is probably one of the most intimate and inspiring ways you can explore this incredible region. Glide through the quiet waters and take in the beauty of Antarctica. Paddle through astounding icebergs, watch penguins, seals, and possibly whales swim around your kayak.
Kayaking in the polar regions is highly weather dependent; however, we guarantee at least one outing during your voyage. Your kayak guides will always attempt to take you out as many times as possible throughout your voyage.
MOUNTAINEERING
Mountaineering is offered on select Antarctic voyages at the beginning of the season. Mountaineering in Antarctica is not for the faint of heart.
This adventure option is geared towards the more adventurous traveller but is quite a rewarding experience. Spaces are limited and require some experience.
STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDING
Stand-up paddleboarding will give you a very personal and unique perspective on Antarctica. Guided by experienced staff in small groups in the right weather conditions in calm bays and harbours.
Reservations for 10 paddleboarders will be taken at the time of booking. Other paddleboarding opportunities will be offered via sign-up, onboard, on a first-come, first-served basis.
SNOWSHOEING
Experience the seventh continent the way explorers of yesteryear did — by snowshoe. Walk atop fresh snow and visit places that are inaccessible by foot. Snowshoeing is offered on select Antarctic voyages at the beginning of the season.
CAMPING
Camping in Antarctica is a unique experience. You will spend a night on the Antarctic ice, surrounded by the pristine environment of the white continent. You will hear the nearby glaciers calving and perhaps be visited by curious penguins or seals during the night.
SCUBA DIVING & SNORKELLING
Not an activity for everyone, scuba diving in Antarctica is something out of this world. You will be able to submerge into one of the most pristine environments on the planet and explore the ice and the wondrous creatures that inhabit those cold latitudes.
Diving is only available on a small number of ships and select departure dates.
