Tierra del Fuego National Park
Located just 12 km away from the city of Ushuaia, this is the only national park in Argentina that combines sea, forest, and mountains. Many viewpoints in this park are accessible by car. There are some easy and short trails, but also some longer ones, like the Guanaco peak trail, which gives you an expansive view. The wildlife you may encounter in the park includes red foxes, beavers, and abundant bird life.
Estancia Harberton
This is the first estancia (ranch) founded in Tierra del Fuego, in the year 1886, by Thomas Bridges, an English missionary. Located on the shores of the Beagle channel, 70 km to the east of Ushuaia, Harberton is not just a scenic spot, but also a very historical one. The history of this place has been immortalised in the famous Uttermost part of the Earth by Lucas Bridges. This is, without a doubt, the most iconic book of Tierra del Fuego. Harberton also offers the possibility of sailing to a nearby island that hosts a colony of Magellanic penguins.
Sail the Beagle Channel
Whether you choose to do it in a comfortable catamaran or a smaller boat for a more intimate experience, sailing the Beagle Channel is an experience you shouldn’t miss if you visit Ushuaia. During this tour you will be able to see islands of the Fuegian Archipelago, some of them hosting sea lions and South American fur seals, imperial cormorants, terns and many other birds. One of the highlights of this excursion is the visit to Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, one of the symbols of Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego.
Escondido and Fagnano Lakes 4x4
You can reach these beautiful lakes by crossing the scenic mountain pass Paso Garibaldi. Make sure that on the way there you stop to see the husky dogs on the Carbajal valley. The road conditions are fine to go with a car, but it’s a fun option to go in a 4×4 vehicle, in which the drivers will take you through secondary routes for a greater sense of adventure. If you go for the latter option, you’ll most likely visit a shelter in the forests, where your guides and drivers will treat you to a typical Argentine asado. If you decide to visit the area on your own devices, make sure you stop at one of the many restaurants alongside the road to try the quintessential Fuegian lamb.

Beaver watching tours
Beavers are not native animals of Tierra del Fuego. Since they don’t have any natural predators, they have substantially modified the landscape. The tour takes place in the afternoon when you can see these animals working and learn more about them with the help of your guides. Tour includes a tasty stew in a cozy shelter in the forest.
