Wildlife abounds in the most remote reaches of the Earth. Gentoo, macaroni and chinstrap penguins waddle along the shorelines of South Georgia, their whimsy inviting you to marvel over the wonders of nature. But perhaps the most endearing among them are the King penguin chicks, at their softest and fluffiest during this time. The South Shetland Islands are renowned for their seabirds, but the giant petrel of King George Island inspires a sense of awe with its impressive wingspan. Listen for the trill of the leopard seal’s mating song throughout the Antarctic waters. Under the fading Midnight Sun, the icebergs and tundra of the South Orkney Islands will take your breath away.
